Wealthy man always slighted poor scholar "Oh! If you don’t have money. You are almost good for nothing. What is the use of having an abundance of knowledge?" Wealthy repeatedly said this in a mocking tone.
But scholar never paid attention to any of those words. He taught children and earned a living out of his teaching job. Things went on like this.
One day the rainy season arrived bringing floods along with it. The villagers were devastated by the severe floods. They lost their homes, crops as well as money.
The most affected among them was wealthy man. He was left penniless. Somehow he managed to save his life.
The villagers escaped to the neighboring village in boats.
When they arrived there nobody was concerned about wealthy man. But the scholar was respected by everyone. He had disciples in that village too. They readily offered their help.
Healthy hung his head in shame when he saw how much scholar was revered by everyone. He realized that knowledge was a better wealth than money.
